Maple Leaf Ropes Variable Friction Rope Descender V2
- The rope can be threaded in either direction into the device, which allows for more even wear. - The MLRGT-V2 has 4 holes which allows the user to increase or decrease friction. On long descents, 2-3 holes can be used. Once the weight of the rope decreases, friction can be added by threading rope in the extra holes. - The MLRGT-V2 should only be used with a locking carabiner. It should never be used with a non-locking carabiner or a non rated link. - Do not allow the device to come into contact with sharp edges or surfaces that may cause damage to the device. - The MLRGT-V2 should not be used without a proper backup system for descending. If you are unaware of exactly how to do this, please seek professional advice. - When using this device as a descender, always maintain one hand on the rope below the device at all times. - The MLRGT-V2 has been strength tested using an end to end pull. The minimum rated breaking strength is 10,000 lbs {44.4kN}. Using a 5:1 safety factor, the safe working load of this product is 2000 lbs (8.9kN}.
